Societal Challenges
This pillar reflects the strategic priorities of the Europe 2020 strategy and faces great concerns shared by European and other countries.
It brings together resources and expertise from a variety of industries, technologies and disciplines, including the social sciences and humanities.
The pillar covers activities from research to commercialization, focusing on those related to innovation, such as pilot projects, demonstration, test stands and support to public procurement and commercial adoption. You will establish links with the activities of European innovation partnerships.
Funding will focus on the following challenges:
- Health, demographic change and wellbeing;
- Food security, sustainable agriculture and forestry, marine and maritime and inland water research, and the Bioeconomy;
- Secure, clean and efficient energy;
- Smart, green and integrated transport;
- Climate action, environment, resource efficiency and raw materials;
- Europe in a changing world - inclusive, innovative and reflective societies;
- Secure societies - protecting freedom and security of Europe and its citizens.
